Squad Designated Marksman Course

The SDM course will provide the squad with a designated marksman that has been trained to engage targets from 100 to 550 meters with and without optics. The SDM will operate and maneuver as a rifleman, but will have the added responsibility of engaging targets with effective, well-aimed fire out to 550 meters. The SDM can also be used to help direct the fire of other squad members into enemy positions. Due to the increased skill level required for his position, the SDM must maintain a high level of proficiency through continued training of the required skills.

 2 DAY HEAVY CARBINE MARKSMAN

2-Day “Gunner” (Heavy Carbine Marksmanship) course is designed to teach you to make the SHOT and do it in as little time as possible. Being accurate is final but being accurate in seconds or less is better.

In this course you will mount, level, zero, and shoot several courses of fire. You will do this with your gear. Bring what you have; we will make you good with it. Learn to use your rifle, scope, reticle and any accessories for them. Shoot for accuracy; true your gun, with your zero, skill and making the SHOT in fractions of a second. Engage from different shooting positions, analyze the mechanics of each one, and practice for time. Learn to estimate range, wind and shoot rapidly. Learn from your misses where the shot went, why and correct for a hit in seconds or less. Use hold offs, hold under, and holdovers to better increase your time to accurately hit your target. Learn to correctly and rapidly reload, correct malfunctions and stoppages to get back in the fight when seconds count.

Do these things while applying the Perfect Fundamentals of Marksmanship. Practice doesn’t make perfect, Perfect Practice Makes Perfect.

Special Purpose/Designated Marksman Rifle

Course Description:

The Designated Marksman Rifle/Special Purpose Rifle (DMR/SPR) course curriculum is designed to provide the student with the fundamentals of marksmanship and tactical employment of the DMR/SPR type weapon systems in offensive and defensive operations at mid ranges.  This course can be considered an introductory level precision rifle course and is an excellent stepping stone prior to attending Long Range Precision 1.  While basic weapons and optics manipulations will be covered, it is recommended that the student have a solid understanding of the basic function of their chosen weapon system.  Attending a basic carbine manipulation course such as Magpul Dynamics Carbine 1 is also highly recommended.  The student should expect to participate in weapons manipulation drills and should be able to demonstrate safe weapon handling skills at all times.  The student should expect target engagements from 50 to 600 yards.
